    ST. JOSEPH, Mo. -- Missouri Western women's basketball hosted the first day of a two-day camp Monday afternoon.

    One of the favorite local events of the year and the biggest athletics fund raiser for Griffon Athletics is set for this upcoming weekend as the 11th Annual Missouri Western Celebrity Golf Classic takes place at St. Joseph Country Club.
  • DEFENDING MIAA CHAMPION GRIFFON FOOTBALL SCHEDULE IS SET


    ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - With the finalization of road game times, the 2013 schedule for the defending MIAA Champion Griffon Football team is complete.  The 11 game schedule features seven teams with winning records from a season ago including three teams with double digit wins (Emporia State, Northwest Missouri State and Missouri S & T).  The combined record of Griffon opponents was 70-50.

    On the heels of the best season in school history, Griffon Baseball season returns for more date this season as alums from all eras will take on the St. Joseph Mustangs tomorrow night (Saturday, June 15th) at 7 PM at Phil Welch Stadium.
  • Michael Schulze and Grant Fink Sign Major League Contracts


    State College Spikes Website Cleveland Minor League Affiliates All-American shortstop Michael Schulze has decided to forgo his senior season at Missouri Western next year as he has signed a professional baseball contract with the St. Louis Cardinals on Wednesday. Grant Fink signed his professional contract with the Cleveland Indians on Tuesday. 
  • Women's Basketball Inks Eight for 2013-2014 Season


    ST. JOSEPH, Mo – Missouri Western women's basketball coach Rob Edmisson announced the signing of eight student athletes to the National Letter of Intent for the 2013-2014 season. The Griffons welcome junior college transfers Alexis Gray of Buffalo, N.Y. (Erie CC), Kyrsten Crawford of Augusta, Kan. (Hutchinson CC), Tiara Hall of Paris, Texas (Connors State College), Ariana Novack of Chicago, Ill. (Malcom X CC) and Friday Chuol of Des Moines, Iowa (Kirkwood CC) along with freshman Megan Rasmussen of Reeds Spring, Mo. (Reeds Spring HS), Tanner Tripp of Shawnee, Kan. (Mill Valley HS) and Stephanie Lichtenauer of Shawnee, Kan. (Mill Valley HS) to next year's squad.

  • Three Griffon Football Players Earn Membership to 2013 NFF Hampshire Honor Society


    Full Release DALLAS, May 2, 2013 - The National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame (NFF) announced today the members of the 2013 NFF Hampshire Honor Society, which is comprised of college football players from all divisions of play who each maintained a cumulative 3.2 GPA or better throughout their college career. Kyle Knox, Michael Yardley and Macon Allan were thee Griffons to earn this honor. A total of 703 players from 259 schools qualified for membership in the society's seventh year, marking the highest school participation in the history of the program, which began in 2007.
  • 117 MWSU STUDENT-ATHLETES EARN MIAA ACADEMIC HONORS


    Academic Excellence Award Scholar-Athlete Award Academic Honor Roll Kansas City, Mo. - The MIAA announced the 2012-13 Academic Award recipients, with Missouri Western claiming 117 individual MIAA academic awards. Three student-athletes earned the MIAA Academic Excellence Award, which is given to those who maintain a cumulative grade point average of 4.00, while six student-athletes earned the MIAA Scholar-Athlete Award, which is given to those who have a cumulative grade point average of 3.50, and earned All-MIAA honors in their respective sport. The MIAA Academic Honor Roll featured 108 Griffons who had a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.00.
  • MAX EXPERIENCE STUDENT ATTENDANCE PROMOTION WINNER ANNOUNCED


    For the third straight season, as part of the MAX Experience student benefit package, a season long student attendance promotion was held.  The top five students who attended the most home athletic events throughout the year had the opportunity to pick from a list of five great prizes.  Danielle Watring, a Physical Therapist Assistant major from Cuba, Missouri was this years winner.  Watring attended 30 of a possible 56 home dates across all sports.  For her efforts, she won an IPAD Mini.  Other prizes awarded included; Dell Laptop Computer, $250 Travel Voucher, $200 Gift Certificate to East Hills Mall and $200 in Restaurant Coupons to Griffon Corporate Partners.  The top five standings are listed below.  For a complete standings list, click on the MAX Experience link via gogriffons.com.
