Shirley Mae Best 75, of Saint Joseph, Missouri passed away Sunday February 24, 2013 at a Saint Joseph, Missouri Hospital.
She was born April 23, 1937 in St. Joseph, Missouri daughter of Hazel & Fielding Ballard. She worked at the Spot Cafe for thirty years and Betty's Cafe for ten years. She liked to play Bingo and visit the St. Joe Frontier Casino.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Best, her parents, a brother, William Ballard and a sister, Vera Pelzman. She is survived by three sons, Ernie Best, Terry Soule and Marvin Ballard all of St. Joseph, MO, two daughters, Cindy Best and Ramona Best of St. Joseph, MO, nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren, three sisters, Ellen "Midge" (Alvin) Pawling and Georgie "Gerry" Abbott both of St. Joseph, MO and Hazel (Bobby) Hall and a sister-in-law, Rosie Ballard.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday at the Rupp Funeral Home. She will be cremated under the direction of the Rupp Funeral Home. Memorials are requested to the Shirley Best Memorial Fund.
