Barbara J. (Adams) Vulgamott, 79, of St. Joseph, passed away Sunday, March 10, 2013 at University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas.
Barbara was born on April 20, 1933 in St. Joseph to T. Fred and Mattie Adams. She received her certification as a Registered Nurse from the Methodist Hospital School of Nursing.
Barbara worked at Methodist Hospital, Thompson-Brumm-Knepper Clinic and most recently at Johnson Control as a Plant Nurse.
She married Ralph Vulgamott on February 4, 1955 in Savannah, Missouri. He survives of the home.
Barbara was a member of the Johnson Control Retiree's Group, First Baptist Church in Savannah, the Red Hats and was a Den Mother.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Sharon Symes.
Additional surviving family includes her children, Monte (Karen) Vulgamott, of St. Joseph; Corey (Jean) Vulgamott, Country Club Village, Missouri; Valerie (Bruce) Hanna, Savannah, Missouri; Rodney Vulgamott and his fiance, Cindy Cox, of Roscoe, Illinois; and Tracy Hash, Gladstone, Missouri; sister, Eleanor Conroy, of St. Joseph; 11 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services 10:30 AM Thursday at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel.
Interment Fairview Cemetery.
Visitation will begin after 12:00 Noon Wednesday at our chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday evening.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association or the charity of the donor's choice.
