M. Maxine Koelliker, 91, Hiawatha, KS

M. Maxine Koelliker, 91, of Hiawatha, passed away and went to be with Her Lord and Savior, Friday afternoon, March 8, 2013, at Maple Heights Nursing Home in Hiawatha.
Maxine was born July 4, 1921, at Morrill, one of three children born to Ray Joseph and Effie Eliza Snyder Nicholson and was a lifelong Brown County resident. She grew up in the Morrill, Fairview, and later Hiawatha communities where the family farmed. Maxine worked in the county office at the Brown County Courthouse prior to working for A.B. Keith Insurance Agency. Mrs. Koelliker grew up in the Baptist Church. Later in years, she was a member of the Calvary Temple Assembly of God Church in Hiawatha; and a member of Kansas Farm Bureau. Maxine was an active supporter of Midland Ministries of Hiawatha for many years.
She was married to Ernest "Pete" Hooper, January 26, 1946. They farmed and raised livestock near Robinson. She was in the true sense, a 'farm wife' as she did what ever needed to be done on the farm, along with raising her family. After they moved to Robinson, she worked as a book keeper for the Robinson Co op for 20 years before retiring in 1981. Pete died March 1965. Maxine later married Kenneth Koelliker, September 9, 1985. They made their home in Hiawatha where they had been married for twenty five years. What they valued most were the yearly trips to Branson, Missouri which they had done for many years. He died March 27, 2011. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and a brother Donald Nicholson.
Survivors include four children and spouses: Patty (Wayne) Regnier of Topeka, James (Susan) Koelliker of Mahattan, Mary (Vern) Finley of Hiawatha, Ruth (Larry) Hartman of Oak Harbor, WA; a sister Dorothy Tharp of Hiawatha; 11 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Maxine's life is planned for 10:30 Thursday, March 14, at the Calvary Temple Assembly of God Church in Hiawatha, with Pastor Don Goatley officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, Robinson.
Friends may call at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hiawatha after 9 a.m. Wednesday where the family will meet from 6 until 7:30 that evening.
