Bobby L. DeSpain, 78, St. Joseph, MO

Bobby L. DeSpain, 78, St. Joseph, Missouri went home to be with the Lord Monday, March 4, 2013 at his home.

He was born September 17, 1934 to Lewis and Delsie (Larrison) DeSpain.

Bobby married Diane K. Ridgeway on April 7, 1961.

Mr. DeSpain served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and worked for Mead for 37 years. He was a member of the Eastside Baptist Church where he was an usher, taught Sunday school and was a greeter for over 30 years. He loved his church and was very active with it. Bobby was also a member of the Pony Express Post #359, American Legion, and VFW Post in Kansas City, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, William E. DeSpain; sisters, Louise Stephens and Margaret Hockaday; infant daughter, Tammy DeSpain; and grandson, Tyson Mejia.

Survivors: wife; daughters, Sharon Moore (Randy), Fairfield, Ohio, Cindy McPherson (Bobby), St. Joseph, Missouri; son, Jeff Mejia, Melborne,Florida; eleven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and sister, Lorraine Goldesberry, St. Joseph, Missouri.

Services:  10:00 A.M. Thursday, Eastside Baptist Church. Interment Sugar Creek Cemetery, Rushville, Missouri.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, Eastside Baptist Church. Flowers are appreciated and for those wishing to make a contribution, the family requests they be made to Eastside Baptist Church.   The family would like to thank Kendallwood Hospice for all of their support.
