Bill G Sowell, 65, Reeds Spring, Missouri, formerly of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Friday, September 7, 2012 at his home.
Bill was born February 21, 1947 in St. Joseph to Arthur Lloyd and Rose Evelyn (Doty) Sowell. He served his country for 3 tours in the United States Marines during the Vietnam war and was honorably discharged as a Gunnery Sergeant.
Bill married Pamela Wenzel in June, 1984 and she survives of the home.
Bill was a pipefitter at Quaker Oats for 31 years. He enjoyed landscaping, home improvement projects and spending time with his family and friends
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Tina Sowell; and sister, Caroline Schussler.
Additional survivors include his brother, Arthur "Dean" Sowell and wife, Rolinda, Amazonia, Missouri; son, Billy G. Sowell, Jr.; daughters, Tracy James and husband, Rick, Tonya Butler and husband, Dusty, all of St. Joseph; step-son, Sean Fitzmaurice and wife, Janet, Arizona; step-daughter, Kelly Fitzmaurice, Kansas City, Missouri; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren, many friends and extended family.
Services 1 pm, Tuesday at Heaton-Bowman-Smith Savannah Chapel, Savannah, Missouri. Visitation will begin after 12 noon, Monday at our Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Monday evening. Inurnment Fillmore Cemetery, Fillmore, Missouri at a later date.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Disabled American Veterans.
