Logan M. Gore, Jr., 91, St. Joseph, MO

Logan M. Gore, Jr., 91, St. Joseph, died Thursday, June 24, 2010 at Heartland Regional Medical Center.
He was born December 9, 1918 in St. Joseph, where he was a life long resident. He attended the old Garfield grade school and graduated from Central High School and the University of Wisconsin School of Banking in 1950.
He served in the United States Army Air Force during the World War II and the Korean Conflict. During World War II he was in the Pacific Theatre and while on Okinawa received a direct commission to the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. He was awarded battle stars for the Mariannas and Ryukyus Campaigns.
He married Joyce Lewis on March 16, 1946, who preceded him in death.
Mr. Gore was also preceded in death by his parents, Logan M. Sr. and Edith Grace (Kern) Gore.
He had been in the banking business for 47 years, having been with the Park Bank for 32 years and was Vice President and Cashier there. For 15 years he was with Farmers State Bank and retired from there in 1983 as Senior Vice President and Controller. During his banking career he was President of the local chapter of the American Institute of Banking, President of the ABCD County Banking Association and President of the National Association of Bank Auditors and Comptrollers.
Mr. Logan was a charter member of the South Side Sertoma Club, a graduate of the YMCA Y-Fry Club and an honorary member of the Boy Scout Tribe of Mic-O-Say. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Fairview Mens Club.
(Survivors:) two sons, Logan M. Gore, III, Lee’s Summit, MO and William L. Gore, Parkville, MO; and two grandchildren, Catie and Brannon Gore.
Services 1:00 P.M. Monday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery.
The Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
