Richard E. “O-Boy” Johnson, 77, St. Joseph, died Thursday, June 10, 2010 at his home.
Mr. Johnson was born February 27, 1933 in Huntington, AR, the son of James and Ada (Freeman) Johnson. He married Jennie Mae Hood on July 23, 1957. She preceded him in death on July 7, 2007.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Paul, James, and John; sister, Charlene; daughter, Cynthia; and son, Richard, Jr.
Mr. Johnson was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean conflict, and worked for Rockwell International for 32 years until his retirement.
He was an avid fisherman, one of the best harmonica players in this area; and loved Western movies. He was always willing to help those in need whenever he was asked.
(Survivors:) sons, James Johnson, Richard Johnson (Deann), Steven Hood, and Jason King, all of St. Joseph; daughters, Carol Johnson, Ramona Hodge, Nelleda Johnson, Carla Roberton (Timothy), Janice Richardson (Steven), and Darlene Hood, all of St. Joseph; brother, Rev. Charles E. Johnson (Eileen), St. Joseph; sisters, Emma Jean Femister, Huntington, AR and Alice Faye Vege, St. Joseph, 22 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Services 1:00 P.M Thursday, Holsey Chapel, I.C.M. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery.
The Family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Mr. Johnson will be removed from Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory to arrive at the church one hour prior to the service.
