Western Stuns Pittsburg State in MIAA Tournament

(PITTSBURG, Kan.) Brittany Griswold has hit 13 three pointers this season. Eight of them came before Tuesday night. Five came in the opening night of the MIAA Tournament.
One came in the final stages to seal a Griffon win.
Missouri Western stunned Pittburg State 71-67 to advance to the quarterfinals of the conference tournament. The Griffons (16-11, 8-10) remain unbeaten against the Gorillas in the tournament.
Western gained momentum early by jumping out to a double digit lead int he first half. They'd take a 10-point advantage into the locker room.
After trailing by as many as 13, Pitt State stormed back to tie it with 4:30 remaining. Lizzy Jeronimus then hit a jumper to give the Gorillas a two-point lead.
With a tie ball game and 51 seconds left, Griswold hit her fifth shot from beyond the arc, putting Western on top for the rest of the night. She finished with 19 points, while Heather Howard and Alicia Bell chipped in 11 apiece.
The Griffons will battle second-seeded Central Missouri Friday at 6 p.m. at the Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City.
