Northwest Snaps a 6-Game Losing Streak in Win Over Western

(MARYVILLE, Mo.) Northwest Missouri State delivered another blow to the Missouri Western State volleyball team Tuesday night defeating the Griffons in three sets.
Both Western and Northwest were in need of a win.
The Griffons (12-13, 3-9 MIAA) had lost four straight entering the night, and are currently on the outside of the top eight teams that advance to the MIAA Tournament.
The Bearcats (12-13, 6-6 MIAA) had dropped six in a row before knocking off the Griffs Tuesday, and are currently seventh in the conference standings.
Northwest got off to a quick start winning the first set 25-14.
The next two were close, but the Bearcats held on to beat the Griffons 25-22 and 25-23.
The Griffons also fell to the 'Cats in the first meeting between the teams in St. Joseph earlier this season.
Abby Graves led Northwest with 18 kills, and Bridget Hanafin finished with 42 assists.
Amanda Boender led the Griffs with 10 kills, and Stephanie Hattey paced Western with 29 assists.
Missouri Western's road trip continues with a match against Missouri Southern on October 26th.
Northwest will venture to Lindenwood on October 26th for another conference bout.
