(SPRINGFIELD, Oh.) When the US Open begins in two weeks, a former Missouri Western Griffon will be playing amongst the best golfers in the world.
Brice Garnett won the US Open Sectional Qualifier at Springfield, OH Monday with a score of 131 through 36 holes, good for nine under par.
In the first round of the day, the Gallatin, MO native shot a 66, and fought off fatigue for an even better score of 65 in the afternoon round.
"I can't even hardly imagine that my first PGA Event is going to be the US Open," Garnett said in a phone call Monday evening. "Just to think that I'm going to finally tee it up with the big boys, kind of my lifelong dream, it's very exciting."
Garnett's been playing on the Nationwide Tour recently.
He graduated from Missouri Western in 2006.
