(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) Missouri Western enters the MIAA Tournament with the best pitching duo in the conference.

Junior Brandon Simmons (11-2) and senior Nik Jurado (8-1) have posted a 1.58 and 1.79 ERA respectively, second and third best in the MIAA. Not only are the pitchers trying to strikeout opposing batters, they are also trying to out pitch each other.

"These guys pretty much pick up right where you left off," Simmons said. "If I go out and throw a five hitter, I know Jurado's going to go out and throw a four hitter. That's just the way its been all season. He always one ups me."

The Griffons first game in the conference tournament is Friday at 2:30pm at Community America Ballpark. Missouri Western is the number two seed, and has a first round bye. They will play the highest remaining seed Friday.
