(SAINT JOSEPH, Mo.) The Griffon men took Fort Hays State to the limit Saturday.

But, as Tom Smith alluded to having seen many times as a coach, the team that made the late comeback let up in the extra frame.

A Reed Meels three-pointer knotted the game at 70-70 in the final minute, but the Tigers pulled away for an 84-74 overtime victory.

Fort Hays State (5-2, 2-0) brought a very balance scoring to the MWSU Fieldhouse, as five players posted point totals of 18, 18, 17, 16, and 15 to record every bit of the Tigers' final score.

Alfreeman Flowers led the Griffons (4-4, 0-2) with 19 points, while Cedric Clinkscales churned out 14 to go along with 12 rebounds.

Western resumes play on Dec. 18th when they face Barry University in the Lynn University Classic.
