(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) The Missouri Western women's basketball team survived a second half scare from Quincy University to hang on for an 81-67 victory.

The Griffons (6-1) held a 20-point lead late in the first half, but the Hawks made a run to cut the deficit to six with 5:55 to play.

Western outscored Quincy 16-8 the rest of the way to clinch the win.

The Griffs were led by Lanicia Lawrence's 15 points, she also added a game-high 7 assists.

Brittany Griswold also scored 15, while Alicia Bell and JaQuitta Dever chipped in with 13 points.

Missouri Western was able to open up a large lead in the first half shooting 51.9-percent from the field, but that dropped off to 36-percent in the second allowing Quincy to close in on the lead.

Western gets back on the hardwood Saturday with a home contest against Rockhurst.
