Zuerlein Earns Player of the Week Honors

(ST. LOUIS, Mo.) Before Sunday, no other kicker in the NFL had made a 50-yard and a 60-yard field goal in the same game.

St. Louis Rams kicker Greg Zuerlein drilled a kick in the first half from 58 yards, the another from 60 to make his mark on the league just four games into his career.

That is why Zuerlein has been named the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week.

As a whole on the day, the rookie from Missouri Western made all four field goals he attempted against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.

Those field goals combine with a touchdown pass from punter John Hekker on a fake field goal led the Rams to a 19-13 win.

"Right now, our kicker is the MVP of the season," running back Steven Jackson said of Zuerlein after the game.

Zuerlein also set the mark for longest field goal in Rams history when he broke Jeff Wilkins old record set in 1998. He beat it with the 58-yarder, and again later in the game with the 60-yard field goal.

He is now 12-12 on all field goals this season, a Rams rookie record.
