Bearcats, Griffons Ranked High in Latest Poll

By: Justin Sampson
Updated: August 15, 2012

The Beyond Sports Network has released its preseason poll for Division II and has given both Northwest Missouri and Missouri Western high praise.

The Bearcats were named the third best team in the country, while the Griffons picked up the number 16 ranking.

The BSN is an online database for coaches and scouts to evaluate talent at the FCS, D-II, D-III, and NAIA level.

Northwest Missouri posted an 11-3 mark in 2011-2012 and was ousted in the NCAA Quarterfinals by eventual National Champion, Pittsburg State.

Missouri Western returns 24 seniors from last year's squad, which tied a school record with nine wins and hosted the program's first ever NCAA playoff game.

The Bearcats were also ranked third in the AFCA Preseason Coaches Poll released Monday. The Griffons picked up the number 18 ranking.

Both teams open their seasons on August 30.
