A catholic church that`s rich history also has reason to celebrate. More than 1,000 came for the 90th Annual New Hurlingen Picnic that dates back to the 1900`s. Folks enjoyed their fill of fried chicken, politicians and fun on the grounds of the Seven Dolors Catholic Church in what most people now call Easton. All of the proceeds raised at today`s event go toward keeping the historic church open. Some residents have been coming to the New Hurlingen Picnic for decades and they say a lot has changed. Jim Vuhman said, "There used to be a store down at the end of the hill of course it`s been gone a long time and now it`s just the church and the hall and that`s it." The church is all that`s left of the town of New Hurlingen that was settled by several German immigrant families. The picnic began in 1916 as a parish dinner.
