Close Call...

A St. Joseph man is a little shaken tonight after a close call with his lawn mower. Eighty-two-year-old Elmo Jackson was mowing almost an acre of land at his home in St. Joseph when his 19-year old lawn mower finally gave out. A blade shot out from under his machine and sliced through the rear rubber tire. Jackson says he`s thankful the blade stuck in the tire and not in him. "It could have hit my ankle or my leg, and it would have broken every bone in there. I was really fortunate," Jackson says. Jackson says he`ll finally retire the push mower, which he has used about once a week every summer for the past 19 years.
