Third Man Accused in Double Homicide Returns to Court

Updated: January 7, 2009
One of three men accused in St. Joseph`s first double murder appears in court today. Kenderal Rogers is the last of three to go to trial for the 2004 murders of Danny Watson, Jr. and Dawn Thornton. Rogers pleaded the fifth during the trial of Terrell Dawson and Javonty Steward, two men already convicted of killing the couple. Rogers had entered a plea agreement prior to the case but that plea deal was revoked when Rogers did not testify. A judge today granted prosecuting attorney Dwight Scroggins permission to video tape testimony from ballistics specialist Mike Ward. Ward, who works for the Kansas City Regional Crime Lab, is moving to Texas the week of Rogers` scheduled trial. Rogers` trial begins August 7.
