Large crowds watch on as planes take flight at the Sound of Speed Air Show. And the high-flying fun gives many moms and dads the chance to spend some quality time with their kids. It`s a career fit for the whole family. "We`re all kind of like gaurd family out here. A lot of your own family ends up joining the unit. My dad was out here and an uncle. I`ve got a cousin out here," Gaurdsman Brian Clark says. And for some of these families, air shows at home base are a bonding experience A father passes his experience to his son. "You know he could do any of these things out here. He could be a pilot or work on air crew or do a job like I do, supporting the aircraft," Clark says. Brian Clark shows his son the ropes of the Air National Gaurd, just as his own father continues to do for him. "I do that with my dad. We go on annual field training together. It`s a learning process," Clark says. The father-son duo traveled from Springfield, Missouri, to see Brian`s home base here at Rosecrans. And to give Brice the full air show experience. "To see planes fly. In springfield we don`t get to see a lot of that. We`re not near a military base or air base so it`s a really unique experience for him," Clark says. And while many kids look at the show as entertainment... "I like it when they blast off in the sky and the people driving them," Rose Scott says. Brice sees the show as part of his future. "I think when I grow up I want to be in the gaurd too," Brian`s son, Brice Clark, says.
