Sex Offender Accused of Same Violation

The Buchanan County Sheriff`s department catches a registered sex offender who they say was living too close to a school. Deputies say this is the second time for 25-year-old Shaun Reynolds. Reynolds became a sex offender in 2002 when he was convicted of a sex crime involving a 14 year old in Doniphan County, Kansas. The Buchanan County Sheriff`s Department wants the prosecutor to revoke Reynolds` probation. Reynolds pleaded guilty in March to living too close to a school. The judge then put him on a two year probation. Sheriff Mike Strong says during that time Reynolds moved again into a house on King Hill Avenue, less than one thousand feet from St. James Catholic School. The school holds grades "K" through eighth. Besides his sex related crimes; Reynolds has a long rap sheet in Buchanan County ranging from passing a bad check, to forgery, to failure to pay child support. Sheriff Strong says Reynolds tried to fool the system this time but wasn`t successful. "Our investigators stay pretty active in checking these things out. We also get concerned citizens to call but I would chalk this one up to a good investigation. Our investigators found out Reynolds was lying. Sheriff Strong says Reynolds claimed he was living at a different address that was outside of the 1,000 foot boundary. A probable cause statement says Reynolds also violated probation by failing to notify a probation officer about a change in employment, associating with a convicted felon, and having contact with individuals he was forbidden to see. Reynolds will be back in court next Thursday.
