Lafayette Grad Sheds Locks for Love

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
One new Lafayette grad decides to shed some locks for love before heading off to college. Rachel Miller`s hair measures 46 inches long, which is almost as tall as she is. But as she turns a new leaf, she`s ready to walk a little lighter. Rachel has been growing her hair out her entire life with the goal to cut it off for Locks of Love, an organization that makes wigs for children who have lost their hair because of chemotherapy. Rachel cut 24 inches from her mane, and that will make two wigs. Rachel has volunteered at hospitals and nursing homes for the past five years, and says the patients she has seen are an inspiration. "You see people that are sick, you see people with brain tumors and things where they had to shave their head, and so it`s kind of hard to see them like that, and so I have so much, why not give a little?" Rachel says. Rachel will attend Missouri Western State University this fall, majoring in nursing.
