The vote was unanimous for improvements to Mitchell Ave. Tonight at the Tax Increment Funding or "TIFF" meeting American Family Insurance officials proposed funding to widen Mitchell Ave. The company is rebuilidng and plans to bring four-hundred jobs into St. Joseph. American Family Insurance officials say improving road and sewer conditions is a serious need. They say although they are asking for tax funding...the community will gain rather than lose. "Tax payers actually wont be paying anything because American Family pays taxes today they will pay the same amount of taxes even after this project and even if the TIFF is approved. By making the improvements we`re allowing more development to go on there, says Attorney Mark Woodbury. Although the TIFF Committee approved the proposal the final decision will be left up to the St. Joseph City Council.
