Phone Scam Targets Livingston County

Updated: March 15, 2013
(CHILLICOTHE, Mo.,) The Livingston County Sheriff's office is warning residents about a common phone scam.

The office says several people in the area have reported receiving calls from callers who claim the targets have won large sums of money.

Some residents have reported that the callers continue to call and use forceful tactics and attempt to get the target victims to send money; some even saying the callers were insulting.

The sheriff's office says to never send personal data or wire money to anyone claiming you have won a contest or prize you didn't register for.

Comments

I agree about never sending money to these scammers. instead, they should be reported to http://www.callercenter.com and the FTC in an attempt to shut them down.
