Sandra S. "Sandy" Brucken, 68, of Holton, died Thursday, March 14, 2013 at Medicalodges Jackson County in Holton.
She was born May 1, 1944 in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Charles and Lamonta Williamson Ellis. She graduated from Northeast High School in Kansas City, MO.
Sandy was an assistant manager for WalMart for 22 years, assistant manager for K-Mart 8 years, manager for Fast Trax/7-11 8 years and Holton Plaza manager for 4 years.
She was a member of Evangel United Methodist Church and the Evangel Staff Parish Relations Committee. She was also a member of the East Grant Club, Pilot Club, and served on the board for Development Services Jackson County.
Sandy married Donald E. "Donnie" Brucken on May 28, 1966 at Las Vegas, Nevada. He died December 22, 2000.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, J.W. Ellis.
Survivors include two daughters, Becky Zibell and husband Gary and Sheri Hamlin, all of Holton; two sons, Scott Brucken, Lewisville, TX, and Troy Brucken, Pflugerville, TX; three sisters, Virginia Alflen, Centralia, Earlene Hill, Larkinburg, and Patricia Brown, Garden Grove, CA; five grandchildren, Kylie Zibell Boyd and husband Chris, Casey Hamlin, Kurt Zibell, Colby Hamlin and Chase Hamlin, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 16th at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery at Holton. Sandy will lie in state at the funeral home where a rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. Friday, followed by visitation. Memorials are suggested to the Sandra Brucken Memorial Fund, which will be designated later, to benefit the community, and may be sent in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 1034, Holton, 66436.
