(KANSAS CITY, Mo.) The Northwest women were pegged to finish 14th in the MIAA this season.

First-year head coach Mark Kellogg helped them exceed expectations and amass 14 regular season wins. They earned their 15th victory on Monday at Missouri Southern to advance to the second round of the MIAA Tournament.

The season sputtered to a halt Thursday, however, with a 52-39 loss against top-seeded Washburn at the Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City.

The Bearcats (15-13) could never establish a run or momentum, committing 25 turnovers, having eight shots blocked and shooting 25.9 percent from the field.

MIAA Player of the Year Laura Kinderknecht was the only Lady Blue to finish in double figures with 10 points.

Maggie Marnin and Tember Schechinger also had 10 points for Northwest.
