Laura L. Abels, 87, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Monday, March 4, 2013 at Carriage Square Health Care Center.
Laura was born on September 18, 1925 in St. Joseph to Louis and Evelyn (Schubert) Watkins. She was
A homemaker and also worked at Kresge's Dime Store for 15 years.
Laura was a very special, loving, caring person and her family was blessed to have her in their lives.
Laura was preceded in death by her parents; one brother; and two sisters.
Survivors include daughter, Donna (Terry C.) Imlay; son, William Abels, Jr., both of St. Joseph;
grandchildren, Lori (Mike) Ziegler of Indian Harbor Beach, Florida, Stacey (Dan) Huben, Ashley (Rich) Mense, both of St. Joseph; great-grandchildren, Chase and Rilan Huben, Nathan, Delaney, Cayden Mense, all of St. Joseph, Mikaela Ziegler, Indian Harbor Beach, ; nieces and nephews.
Private family graveside services at Mount Olivet Cemetery under the direction of Heaton-Bowman- Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel.
The family wishes to express their special thanks to friends and staff at Carriage Square Health Care Center and Hands of Hope Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
