(MANHATTAN, Kan.) With a Kansas win Monday, No. 9 Kansas State needed a victory Tuesday to keep pace in the Big 12 regular season championship race.
The Wildcats accomplished that mission, edging TCU 79-68 for their sixth straight win.
Kansas State (25-5, 14-3) would need a win and a Kansas loss on the final day of the regular season to unseat the Jayhawks and pick up their first conference crown since 1977.
Despite 29 points from TCU's (10-20, 1-16) Kyan Anderson, Kansas State managed to hold a double digit lead for much of the contest. The Wildcats were fueled by Angel Rodriguez's 21 points, while Martavious Irving and Shane Southwell each added 15.
Kansas State will finish the regular season Saturday at Oklahoma State.
