Jerry Edward Ford, 91, Easton, Missouri died Sunday, March 3, 2013 at a local healthcare center in St. Joseph, Missouri.
He was born January 28, 1922 in Cosby, Missouri, the son of Oscar Edward Ford and Faye Johnson Ford. He moved to the San Antonio Missouri community at an early age.
Mr. Ford owned and operated a Grade A dairy farm for twenty-eight years. He then changed to beef and grain farming. His interests always centered around family, rural life and farming.
He was a graduate of Central High School, Class of 1940. He attended Johnson's Business School in St. Joseph, Missouri.
Jerry was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during World War II and stationed in Japan.
On April 6, 1950 he married Dorthy E. Buehler at First Christian Church in St. Joseph, Missouri. They celebrated sixty-two years of marriage.
Jerry was a member of the former San Antonio Christian Church and later attended Central Christian Church in St. Joseph, Missouri. He was a member of St. Joseph Lodge #78 A.F. & A.M., 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason and member of Moila Shrine.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
In addition to his wife, Dorthy, of the home, he is survived by a daughter, Deborah Ford Schwader and husband, Kevin, of St. Joseph, Missouri; two grandsons, Grant Ford Schwader and Tyler Jacob Schwader. Services: 3:00 P.M. Thursday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory, where friends may call after 4:00 P.M. Wednesday.
