(TRIMBLE, Mo.) A man police say was shot by a bank employee during an attempted robbery is now charged.

The U.S. Attorney's Office charged Michael Oliva, of Liberty, with attempted robbery.

Court documents show Oliva pointed a realistic plastic gun at a teller at the First Security Bank in Trimble on Friday.

The teller dropped to the floor but a second bank worker who saw the hold-up grabbed a gun and fired two shots.

One shot hit Oliva in the jaw.

He ran out of the bank with no money and led police on a high speed chase.

Oliva was later arrested and remains in the hospital.
