(MARYVILLE, Mo.) Northwest sent their seniors off with an exclamation point Saturday.

After Ashley Thayer and Alexis Boeh were honored, the Bearcats scored a 72-65 upset over No. 25 Truman State at Bearcat Arena.

The win locks up the ninth seed in the MIAA Tournament, earning Northwest (14-12, 8-10) a trip to Joplin to face eighth-seeded Missouri Southern Tuesday.

Tember Schechinger led the charge Saturday with 16 points, five rebounds and three steals. Maggie Marnin added 14 points.

The final regular season test proved to be a strong shooting showcase for Northwest, who went 7-11 from beyond the arc and shot 51 percent from the field.

The Bearcats will tip against Missouri Southern at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
