Mildred Lorene Kempa, 97, Savannah, MO

Mildred was born September 27, 1915, in Willowbrook, Missouri to the late James and Hattie Wright. She lived most of her life in Amazonia, before moving to Savannah in 1980.
Mrs. Kempa was a homemaker. She had also worked at LaVerna Heights and LaVerna Village as a nurses aide. Mildred was a member of St. John's Church in Amazonia. She was an avid quilter, blessing her family and church with her talented craft.
Mildred married William Kempa on April 13, 1937 in St. Joseph. He preceded her in death on April 14, 1980. She was also preceded in death by her daughters, Mary Weipert and Billie Gerstner and 2 great-granddaughters.
Survivors include her 3 children, James (Mary) Kempa, Amazonia, MO; Joan (Gary) Shaw, Savannah, MO and Ronald Kempa, Savannah, MO; 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandson and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services 10:00 am Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at Heaton-Bowman-Smith Savannah Chapel.
Public Visitation will begin after 12:00 pm Monday at our chapel, where the family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Interment St. John's Cemetery, Amazonia, MO.
