JoAnn Blevins, 85, St. Joseph, MO

JoAnn was born on April 17, 1927 in St. Joseph to Ferd and Jessie (White) Mueller and has lived here all her life.
She attended Benton High School, she was married on July 6, 1946 to Kenneth E. Blevins, they had 3 children. He passed away on January 4, 1981 at the age of 54.
JoAnn started working at Combe Printing Co. at the age of 17, where she met her husband, Kenny. She also worked for Western-Robidoux printing and Cookman Printing Co., where she retired from. After 2 years of retirement, she went to work for the North Wal-Mart as a people greeter for 4 and a half years before she retired for good.
JoAnn was a Baptist, but attended Huffman Memorial Church, was a member of Bookbinder's Union, American Legion Auxiliary #55, in Troy, Kansas. She was also a volunteer at the Joyce Raye Patterson Senior Center and played in the Good Life Games, also was president of the St. Joseph Singles Club for 5 years.
JoAnn was also preceded in death by her parents, sister, Betty June Wilson, of Ventura, California, grandparents and aunts and uncles.
JoAnn is survived by her three children, Linda K. Derr, of St. Joseph; Larry Ray (Gwen) Blevins, of Suwanee, Georgia; Mike (Karen) Blevins, also of St. Joseph; her dear companion, Carl J. Carter, of the home; best friend, Nancy Reece, 8 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-granddaughter, nieces and nephews in St. Joseph, and also California, and one cousin, Helen Powell.
Services 1:00 PM Friday, February 22, 2013 at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel.
Interment Mount Olivet Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM Friday, prior to the service.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Kendallwood Hospice.
