(MARYVILLE, Mo.) Alex Sullivan could feel it from his first three-pointer barely a minute into the game.
He knocked down seven more to tie a single-game Northwest record and fuel a 59-52 victory over Missouri Western Wednesday night.
Sullivan went 8-of-15 from beyond the arc and led all scorers with 25 points. DeAngelo Hailey buried the Bearcats' (17-8, 10-6) only other trey of the night.
Western (9-14, 5-10) battled their fair share of the game in head coach Tom Smith's final trip to Maryville. His team held a one-point lead at halftime and kept the score within four up until the game's final minute.
Cedric Clinkscales finished as the only Griffon in double figures with 15.
Hailey had 16 for Northwest while Dillon Starzl added 10.
Northwest travels to Nebraska-Kearney next Wednesday, while Western hosts the Lopers in St. Joseph on Saturday.
