He was born July 21, 1953, to Robert H. and Dorothy Jean (Burnett) Moore. Gene was raised on a farm between Mound City and Maitland, Missouri.
Upon graduating from Mound City High School in 1971, Gene joined the Air National Guard and served for six years. He married Jeanne L. Nash in 1975. Gene was a lifelong family farmer and rejoined the Air National Guard in 1985 with the Civil Engineers. In 2000, he transferred to the 241st Air Traffic Controllers.
Gene retired from the Holt County Road and Bridge Crew in 2009 and from the Air National Guard in 2011.
Gene was a Christian and honored his family, friends, and country. He was a member of the Paul P. Shutts American Legion Post 121, Oregon Masonic Lodge, and Scottish Rite.
Gene was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert "Hank" and Irene (Stinson) Moore, Dwight and Leta (Mann) Burnett; his parents, Robert H. and Dorothy J. (Burnett) Moore; and his brother-in-law, Bob Nash.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanne; two sons, Kevin, Cullom, Illinois; Alex, Norfolk, Virginia; two brothers, Gary (Cindy) Moore, Vanderhoof, BC, R. Fred Moore, Kansas City; in-laws, Robert E. and Winnie Nash, St. Joseph, and Cathy (Bud) Wilson, Buhl, Idaho. Gene is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and a multitude of friends. Services: 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment Mount Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. The family requests memorials to be made to the Mound City Nutrition Site or the 241st Air Traffic Control Fund at Missouri Air National Guard Base in St. Joseph.
