Jean Ann Callen, 77, St. Joseph, MO

She was born August 18, 1935 in St. Joseph, MO, daughter of Lena and William Bishop. She graduated from Benton High School and Northwest Missouri State University with a bachelors of science in education. She married Wilbur Callen on January 6, 1962, in St. Joseph. She retired after 34 years of service from the St. Joseph School district as a school teacher at Pickett and Skaith Elementary. She enjoyed volunteering for the American Cancer Society, sewing, watching game shows on TV, playing Yatze, and scrabble. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of Missouri State Teachers Association and the former Hyde Valley United Methodist Church.
Jean was preceded in death by father, William Taylor Bishop, and mother, Lena Maxine Nagle. Survivors include husband Wilbur Callen of the home, 2 daughters - Deana (David) Woodbury, and Jeana (Dennis) Huber all of St. Joseph, MO; 5 granddaughters - Kristin (Andy) Fowler of Elmendorf AFB, AK, Brandi Huber, Eden Woodbury, Kimberly Huber, and Delaney Woodbury all of St. Joseph; and a great-granddaughter - Alice Fowler; 2 sisters - Shirley Mattox of El Dorado Springs, MO, Carol Sue Ford of Kansas City, MO.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm, on Thursday, February 21, 2013 at Rupp Funeral Home, with Chaplain David Ernst officiating, The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Wednesday at the Rupp Funeral Home. The Interment will be at the Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials are requested to the Hands of Hoe Hospice, or to the Conexion at Hyde Valley United Methodist Church.
