He was born October 11, 1925 to Charles and Mary Gilmore in Kansas City, Missouri.
Willis married Violet E. Clark on January 19, 1946 in Atchison, Kansas. She preceded him in death on August 18, 2011.
He was a baker and worked for Wonderbread for forty years. He was a member of Faith United Church for over thirty years, served on various boards through the church, and was an Adult Sunday School teacher.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; great-granddaughter, Abigail Schmidt; four brothers; and two sisters.
Survivors: daughters, Anna Schmidt (Mike), Amazonia, Missouri, Ruth Sharp (Scotty), Dekalb, Missouri; sons, Donald Gilmore (Dorothea), Louisville, Kentucky, Rev. John Gilmore (Peggy), Johnston, Iowa; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; brother, Chester Gilmore (Rae Ann), St. Joseph, Missouri; and a sister, Mary Ann Hollingsworth, St. Joseph, Missouri.
Services: 1:00 P.M. Monday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. Sunday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Flowers are appreciated and for those wishing to make a contribution, the family requests they be made to Faith United Church or Hands of Hope Hospice.
