Margaret Irene Bealls, 94, St. Joseph, MO

Margaret was born on September 15, 1918, in Atchison County, Missouri, to Russell and Vesta (Andrews) Nuckolls. She lived in Westboro, Tarkio, and Maryville before coming to St. Joseph.
She taught school in the 1930s in Craig and Watson. She was a homemaker and farm wife for many years. She also worked in food service at Tarkio College for four years. She managed Maryville Country Club for five years, she continued her food service career with Moila Shrine Temple for sixteen years; Boehringer-Ingelheim for three years; and Joyce Raye Patterson Senior Center for three years. Her hobby was solving word find puzzles.
Margaret married Melvin D. Layden and six children were born to this union. He preceded her in death. She married Harold Marcus Bealls on June 2, 1968, in Maryville, MO. He passed away in 1995. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Richard Layden; brothers, Boyd and Chuck Nuckolls and son-in-law, Howard Gordon.
Margaret will be sadly missed by her children, Gary (Mary) Layden, Girard, KS, Bob (Carolyn) Layden, Raymore, MO, Calvin (Christine) Layden, St. Joseph, MO, Jerri Lynn Gordon, LaTour, MO, and Deborah (Michael) Evans, Harrisonville, MO; brother, Kenneth Nuckolls, Bellingham, WA; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation for the public will begin after 12:00 p.m. Monday at the Chapel,
Services 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the Service. Interment 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at Home Cemetery, Tarkio, MO.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Fountains at Corby Place, St. Joseph Fire Department, Heartland Paramedics, Heartland Pastor Bob Randleman for their care and kindness.
