Donald Loren Bowland, 90, Savannah, MO

He was born December 31, 1922 in Andrew County to Meritt and Mary (Brower) Bowland. Donald graduated from Savannah High School in 1940 and served in the Marines for 33 months during WWII, as well as serving during the Korea conflict in 1950. Donald owned and operated Bowland Electric for 50 years. He was a lifelong resident and active in many local community affairs including one term as mayor of Savannah.
Donald married Della Katherine Muse on May 14, 1949 in Savannah, Missouri.
Survivors include his wife Della of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Dennis (Lori) Bowland, Columbia, Missouri; daughter and son-in-law, Deanna (Robert) Wasson, Savannah, Missouri; brother, Blaine (Margaret) Bowland, Warrensburg, Missouri; sister, Carol Jackson, St. Joseph, Missouri; three grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Lowell Bowland.
Celebration of Life will be 10:00 AM Saturday, February 16, 2013 at Savannah United Methodist Church, Savannah, Missouri. Interment will be in Savannah Missouri Cemetery. Public visitation and family receiving hours 6 to 8 PM Friday at Breit - Hawkins and Gladden Funeral Home, Savannah, Missouri. Memorials are suggested to the Savannah United Methodist Church, Savannah, Missouri.
