Elsie was born December 6, 1923 in St. Joseph, MO, to the late of Alma and Charles King. She graduated from Benton high school in 1941. She married Michael Turner on February 11, 1941 and they had 2 daughters. She was a homemaker. She loved dancing, playing the piano and she played in the Country Rhythm Band at the Joyce Raye Patterson Senior Citizens Center, St. Joseph for over 23 years. Elsie was a Christian.
Elsie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Michael Turner June 25, 1987, a daughter, Carolyn Deatherage, sister, Helen Winborn, brother, Jack King and a grandson, Paul Deatherage. Survivors include daughter, Marilyn Shanks and husband Ron of Saint Joseph, MO, three grandchildren, Jeff Churchill, Shelley Berry and Tony Deatherage, four great grandchildren, Ashley Berry, Tyler and Trevor Deatherage and Cory Shanks, sister, June Large of St. Joseph, MO, sister-in-law, Wilma King and several nieces & nephews.
Graveside Funeral services and Interment will be conducted on Thursday, February 7, 2013 at 10:30 am, at the Ashland Cemetery, with Dr. Darrell Jones officiating. There is no scheduled family visitation. Online condolence and obituary at www.ruppfuneral.com.
