(ATCHISON, Ks.) An informant that helped police arrest 20 people on drug charges has turned out to be the key to their freedom.
According to KAIR, charges for most of the suspects in the case were dropped Tuesday during a hearing at the Atchison County District Court.
The charges - mostly connected to distributing controlled pharmaceuticals - stem from a four-month investigation in late 2012 by the Atchison Police Department.
KAIR reports that the county's attorney said the state received new information which compromised the integrity of the confidential informant used during the investigation.
The remaining suspects are expected to have their charges dismissed later this month.
