(CONCEPTION JUNCTION, Mo.) While most spent Super Bowl Sunday partying and watching the big game, others took some time to remember four WWII heroes.

Sunday was the 70th anniversary of the attack on U.S.A.T. Dorchester where 672 servicemen died, including the four Immortal Chaplains

On February 3rd in 1943, a German torpedo hit the ship. Rather than saving their own lives, the four chaplains gave away their life jackets, and helped others find safety.

Services were held across the country Sunday to remember the sacrifice, including one at the Conception Junction American Legion.

"I think it's important to remember all the troops that gave the sacrifice, but in this particular case it was four men who could have saved themselves, and went out of their way to other men instead," says Commander Robert Trautz, of the American Legion Post 464 in Conception Junction.

At the ceremony in Conception Junction, members shared the stories of each chaplain, and said prayers.
