LaVerne was born December 12, 1920 to Paul & Hazel Riggs in Walthill, Nebraska.
On August 9, 1939, she married Floyd L. Boyer.
She retired from the St. Joseph Police Department after 28 years of service.
LaVerne was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brother.
Survivors: son, Floyd "Terry" Boyer (Sharon), Cameron, Missouri; daughters, Dianne Dewey (Corky), Savannah, Missouri and Linda Arthur (Bill), St. Joseph, Missouri; sisters, Reva Goodwin, Moundridge, Kansas and Ruth Shea, Concordia, Kansas; sister-in-law, Judith Riggs, Arkansas City, Kansas; grandsons, Brad Boyer, Bryan Boyer, Kevin Arthur, Kraig Arthur, Kirk Arthur, and James Dewey; granddaughter, Julie Waters; sixteen great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services: 1:00 P.M. Saturday, Freeman Chapel Freewill Baptist Church, 2600 SE 144th Road, Stewartsville, Missouri 64490, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment Kerns-Freeman Cemetery. The family suggests memorial gifts be made to Open Door Food Kitchen, 501 Edmond St., St. Joseph, Missouri 64501. Care provided by Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory.
