Marian E. (Spencer) Schottel, 79, Clarksdale died Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at her home.
She was born August 3, 1933 to Ralph Leonard and Hazel (Thornton) Spencer in Clarksdale.
Marian married Wilbur Clarence Schottel on June 7, 1951. He preceded her in death on November 26, 2009.
She worked at HD Lee as a packer for 13 years and later as a Scale house operator for Land Construction Company.
Mrs. Schottel was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Cosby.
She loved to play Bingo, cards and enjoyed bird watching and family activities. Marian had fond memories of her 2011 trip to Alaska with 15 family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wilbur Clarence; sister, Marie Spencer; brother, Darrell Spencer; and two great grandchildren.
Survivors: children, Jill Vanderpool (Richard), St. Joseph, Ralph Schottel (Marla), Smithville, Wilma Swope (Dennis), Stewartsville, Kathy Kalin (Mark), Smithville, Warren Schottel (Linda), Stewartsville and Pete Schottel (Sherrilyn), Stewartsville; 14 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; brother, Dennis Spencer (Norma); and sister-in-law, Olga.
The family will receive friends 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 Noon Saturday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. The family requests memorial gifts be made to Second Harvest Food Bank or the American Cancer Society.
