Laura was born on July 9, 1914 in Forest City, Missouri to Frank Crawford and Louise (Holtgrave) Cook; she moved to St. Joseph and attended Lafayette High School. She married Floyd Franklin Hines, Jr. on April 3, 1933. She was a homemaker and helped raise her 7 children.
She was a life long member of Patee Park Baptist Church. She enjoyed her Senior Citizens singing group and loved playing her player piano.
Laura was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Floyd Franklin Hines, Jr., daughter, Betty Sell, 3 sons, Floyd Franklin, III, Frank Lee, and Ronnie Lee Hines; 5 brothers, 4 sisters, and two grandchildren.
Surviving family includes daughters, Sherry Wells, of Parkville; Merrie (Dennis) Donahue and Claudine (Arlance) Clark, both of St. Joseph; brothers, Dick Cook, sister, Darlene Ousley; 10 grandchildren and numerous great, great-great, great-great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services 11:00 AM Thursday at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel.
Inurnment will be held at a later date at Mount Auburn Cemetery.
Visitation will begin after 12:00 Noon Wednesday at our chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday evening.
