Updated: January 30, 2013
He was born in Chillicothe, MO on September 13, 1941 to Russell Liberty Lamb and Carol Marguerite (Gilliland) Lamb. He accepted Jesus into his life when he was 12. He married Sue Walsh in October 1961. Sue and his parents preceded him in death.
He is survived by two sisters, Sharron (Charlie) Stedem and Mary Sue (Kenny) Baker; one daughter Carolyn (David) Fjeld, one son Russell (fianc Amy), and granddaughter Anika Jade.
Anika brought so much joy to Don's life. As a child and young man, Don worked hard on the family farm. He moved to Kansas City in 1959 to work at the Kansas City Stockyards. He took a job at Wire Rope in 1963, and was a dedicated employee until his retirement 39 years later. He received various awards during his tenure. Anika wrote this about her Poppa Donnie. "He was one person you could always talk to. He would always give you advice on things you never understood.
He might have always seemed upset or depressed but you could tell when you sat down and talked a bit you already made his day. One thing you learn when you lose someone is you never know how much you need them in your life until they`re already gone." Don's wishes were to be cremated and no funeral services, so family and friends are gathering for food and fun at the Lion's Club in Ludlow, MO on Saturday, February 2 at 1 P.M. Please contact Russ or Carolyn for details. In lieu of flowers, the family suggested contributions to Crossroads Hospice. Arrangements Entrusted to Gladden - Stamey Funeral Home, St. Joseph, Missouri.
