Funeral service will be held Wednesday Jan. 30, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. at Union (Coon Creek) Baptist Church west of Trenton with Rev. Doug Crawford and Ron Ward Officiating. Burial will be in Edinburg I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Edinburg, Mo.
Family visitation will be held Tuesday Jan. 29, 2013 from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Slater Funeral Home, Trenton.
Memorials To: The Diabetes Association and they may be left at the funeral home.
Mr. Gerald L. Hays, was born May 23, 1931 in Omaha, Nebraska, the son of Glen Everett and Frances Marie O'Brian Hays. He graduated from St. Mary's High School, Great Falls, Montana. He was a veteran of the Army Air Force serving during World War II and employed by Trenton Foods in Trenton before retiring.
He was a member of Union Baptist (Coon Creek) Church west of Trenton, MO.
On August 12, 1961 he was married to Leota M. Gardner at Brimson, Missouri.
His survivors include his wife Leota of the home. Two daughters Robin Lower and husband John of Helena, MO. and Laura Hoertling and husband Dave of Redding, Calif. One son Glen Hays and wife Sherri Lynn of Newburg, MO. One step-Daughter Martha Phillips and Husband Jamie of Davenport, Iowa. Five Grandchildren Roger Hays, Jacob Hays , Chelsea Hays, Eric Burris, and Crystaline Webster and Her husband Scott. One Great Granddaughter Sienna Webster. Also surviving are three step-grandchildren and 6 step-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father Glen Hays, his mother Frances Hays, Two sisters Mary Hays, and Virginia Hays.
