(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) A local woman stood outside Civic Arena Saturday at the St. Joe Sport & Gun Show Saturday to spread the word about what she calls a gun show loophole.

The woman protested, claiming 40% of gun show vendors across the country are considered hobbyists and not dealers.

She says the law states hobbyists don't need a federal license to sell guns, and are not required to give a background check before a sale.

The protester says she's not against guns, or private sales, but believes gun shows can be a magnet for trouble, and closing the loophole can save lives.

"I certainly think it would go a long way toward protecting the general public from people who are going to use guns in an inappropriate way, and I don't think it's going to keep anybody from recreational means," says Sarah Hochschwender, the protester.
