Elbert Lee Reed, 80, Maryville, Missouri, died January 14, 2013, at St Francis Hospital in Maryville.
Elbert was born August 22, 1932 in Skidmore, Missouri, the son of the late Ernie E. and Mary G. (Wellington) Reed. He was united in marriage to Peggy Ann (Lawson) on May 9, 1953 in Skidmore.
He was a graduate of Skidmore High School and had worked at both the Uniroyal and New England Business System Factories. Later Elbert was a Caregiver for Association of Group Homes of Nodaway County.
A veteran, Elbert served as a Corporal in the United States Army from 1952 until 1954 in Korea.
He was a member of Laura Street Baptist Church, Maryville.
Elbert was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Margaret Blessington (Dec. 20, 1987) and one sister Donna Davis.
Survivors include; his wife Peggy of the home, son Steve (Alicia) Reed, Maryville; daughter, Deanna (Paul) Overton, Ames, Iowa; two brothers, Ernest (Jeannie) Reed, Saint Joseph, Missouri and Gary (Emelie) Reed, Bolckow, Missouri; one sister Darlene (Fred) Burgess, Saint Joseph,
six grand children; Jacob, Ryan, Jordyn Overton, Rachel (Tyler) (Overton) Welch, Jennifer (Steve) Blessington Ball and Anthony (Lynn) Blessington; three great grand children; Joseph Ball, James and Ajazzi Blessington.
Visitation will be from 6-7 PM Thursday, January 17, at the Price Funeral Home, Maryville. Funeral Services will be held at 10 AM, Friday, January 18, at Laura Street Baptist Church, Maryville. Burial with Military Honors will be at the Hillcrest Cemetery, Skidmore.
