Ruth Elaine (Friend) Barcus, 83, Maryville, MO

Ruth Elaine (Friend) Barcus, 83, of Maryville, MO, and formerly of Elmo, MO, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at the St. Francis Hospital in Maryville.
Ruth was born on July 23, 1929, east of Braddyville, IA. Her parents were Elmer Cecil and Bonnie Bernice (Gray) Friend, they preceded her in death. She was also preceded by 2 sisters, Mary Belle Friend, Faye Ellen Friend, and an infant brother, Paul Friend.
On December 25, 1955, at the Clearmont Missouri Baptist Church, Ruth was united in marriage to Edward Rolland Barcus. They spent most of their married life in Nodaway County, Missouri, where she was a loving wife and mother.
Ruth was a member and attended the Clearmont Baptist Church, Clearmont, MO. She previously attended and helped with the Vacation Bible School at the Laura Street Baptist Church, Maryville, MO. She also was involved with area 4-H Clubs while her children were involved in it.
Survivors include her husband, Edward R. Barcus, of the home in Maryville, MO; her 3 children, David E. (Jeanette) Barcus, Clearmont, MO, Gloria M. (Joe) Reidlinger, Maryville, MO, and Darla K. (Jeff) Smith, Coin, IA; 9 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren; 5 siblings, Delmer (Judy) Friend, Des Moines, IA, Neola Perry, Essex, IA, Lola Steeve, Hopkins, MO, Violet (Kenny) Williams, Clarinda, IA, and Bill Friend, Des Moines, IA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 19, 2013, at the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville, MO. The burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Clearmont, MO. The Rev. Don Barnett will be the minister.
The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 PM, Friday, January 18, 2013, at the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home.
